Car accidents are a concern for people living in Essex County and the surrounding areas. State troopers from the Medford barracks and the Somerfield Fire Department responded to a car accident near Mystic Avenue on December 7. A 26-year-old woman pedestrian was injured, though initial reports of the incident are sketchy.

She was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital with serious injuries, according to a police statement. The car crash occurred in the 500 block of Mystic Avenue. A 32-year-old male was driving a 1998 Nissan Sentra, which collided with the victim.

There were no charges immediately filed against the male driver, who is from Amesbury, at the time of the news story. There also was no further information concerning the investigation. All drivers in Essex County and throughout Massachusetts are required to obey all traffic laws and diligently pay attention when they are behind the wheel. Whether or not the male driver was negligent remains to be seen, and the victim would benefit from consulting an attorney experienced in personal injury law and procedure to assess liability. If the man is found to be negligent, the victim may be eligible to seek financial compensation for her injuries as well as any related pain and suffering.

The victim will most likely want answers pertaining to the cause of the crash. She may also wish to explore her legal options and move to preserve important evidence as she fights for justice. Seeking assistance in these types of issues may help the woman assert all of her rights under the law.
