Communities throughout Essex County can be a very close-knit. It is not uncommon for many residents to personally know victims that are injured or killed in car accidents or other types of mishaps. Such is the case with an Ipswich man who was killed recently after being hit by a car as he crossed the street.

The 23-year-old man was crossing Route 1 when he was struck by a car at about 6:30 in the evening. The young man was transported to Beverly Hospital but unfortunately was not able to pull through. Details of the accident are sketchy at this time, but according to the Ipswich Police, the Essex County District Attorney's office and the Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Unit the incident is still under investigation. For this reason, no information was released concerning any use of drugs or alcohol by either driver or victim. No charges have been filed yet.

Because the facts of this tragedy have yet to be released it is impossible to know if this incident constitutes a wrongful death. If it is, the family of the victim may have legal options that they can pursue to see that the person responsible for the loss of their loved one is help accountable. As is the case with all fatal accidents in Essex County, the police will do their best to gather all the facts and make a fair and accurate determination as to what caused this accident and if anyone is at fault.
